Mental Health Therapy and Addictions Counseling
I work with adults, families, adolescents and couples who are suffering from anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, OCD, betrayal trauma, mood disorders, ADHD/ADD, substance use disorders, sex and porn addictions, gambling addiction and relationship issues. I have a holistic approach and believe that you are not your mental health issues. You are a whole person who deserves to be treated with respect and with no judgment.
Offering in person & telehealth appointments.
Methodology
I primarily use:
-
A form of psychotherapy that aims to reduce symptoms of various mental health conditions, primarily depression, PTSD and anxiety disorders.
-
DBT can be useful in treating mood disorders and suicidal ideation as well as for changing behavioral patterns such as self-harm and substance use.
-
An empirically-based psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies along with commitment and behavior-change strategies to increase psychological flexibility.
-
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy designed to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
-
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy is a cognitive-behavioral treatment used to address obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and other anxiety disorders.
-
a humanistic, evidence-based approach to psychotherapy, rooted in attachment theory, that focuses on the emotional bond in significant relationships, helping individuals and couples identify and transform negative interaction patterns to foster secure connection.
-
A counseling approach that helps clients explore and resolve ambivalence about change, empowering them to find their own motivation for positive behavioral shifts through empathetic and supportive dialogue.
-
A form of psychotherapy that uses hypnosis to induce a state of altered consciousness in order to promote positive changes in thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
-
A type of psychotherapy that focuses on the body and its connection to the mind. It is based on the belief that unresolved trauma and emotional experiences can become stored in the body, leading to physical and psychological symptoms.
-
A couples therapy approach, rooted in 40 years of research, that aims to improve communication, intimacy, and emotional connection by addressing conflict productively and building a life of shared meaning.

Mental Health Therapy, Addiction Counseling, Coaching
After 27 years as a high school teacher, I followed my long-held interest and returned to school to become a licensed social worker (LMSW) and a substance abuse counselor (CASAC.) I work with clients who are suffering from anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, trauma, substance abuse, sex and porn addictions, betrayal trauma and ADHD. I also work with families and couples. I primarily use CBT, ACT, DBT, EMDR and the Gottman Method with couples.
I have worked for a private practice and have worked at inpatient rehabs, including St. Peter’s Hospital Detox in Albany. In private practice, I worked with adolescents, adults, and couples experiencing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, sex addiction and trauma including betrayal trauma. I primarily utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, ACT, EFT, hypnotherapy and the Gottman Method with couples.
I'm passionate about what I do and always enjoy connecting with new people. Please reach out if you or a loved one is struggling with mental health challenges, substance abuse issues, sex or porn addiction or if you are part of a couple looking to learn how to communicate more effectively and improve your relationship.
